SAMSUNG has just unveiled its new Galaxy S8 smartphone but UK owners WON’T get these impressive new features at launch.
Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is finally available to pre-order and there’s no doubt that this is the smartphone to beat in 2017.
With an incredible Quad HD+ display that stretches across the entire front of the phone Samsung is pushing the boundaries of smartphone design.
The Galaxy S8 and larger S8+ also include an updated front and rear camera, iris/facial recognition for added security and an invisible home button which is embedded under the giant display.
The devices start from £689 and those who pre-order today will take delivery of the Galaxy S8 on April 20th.
However, before you hit the order button there are a few things UK owners should be aware of.
This chip is thought to be one of the fastest ever made, but Samsung looks set to only include this super-speedy processor in the US and Asia.
A recent speed test from Android Police revealed just how powerful the Snapdragon 835 is.
The website has had a chance to test the Qualcomm 835 and the results appear incredibly impressive.
Qualcomm had originally estimated that its new powerhouse would be around 20 per cent faster than it’s previous offering.
But the latest benchmark results have revealed that the GPU performance is nearly 40 per cent better than the 835’s predecessor in some tests.
Samsung launches long anticipated Galaxy 8
Another feature that Brits will miss out on at launch is Samsung’s Bixby personal assistant.
Like Apple’s Siri, Bixby is an intelligent interface that will help users get more out of their phone.
There’s even a new Bixby button which allows users to conveniently access Bixby and navigate through services and apps with simple voice, touch, vision and text commands.
Sadly, Samsung has confirmed that Bixby’s voice services won’t be ready in the UK until much later in the year with some suggesting it may not even arrive before the winter.
Bixby is coming to the Galaxy S8 but some features won’t work in the UK
These include Midnight Black, Orchid Grey and Arctic Silver.
However, Samsung has confirmed that its Arctic Silver colour won’t be available when the phone hits UK stores on April 28th.
The Korean technology firm has said it could potentially launch Arctic Silver in the future but this will be announced in due course.
